Lead Power Engineer Location: Dallas, TX or Spartanburg, SC (Relocation Offered)
Overview We are seeking a Lead Power Engineer to own the end-to-end electrical and power strategy for next-generation AI-scale data center infrastructure. This individual will define and deliver the power architecture that fuels hyperscale compute environments-ensuring reliability, scalability, and sustainability across multiple facilities.
Reporting directly to the Chief Engineer, this leader will serve as the principal authority for all electrical and power systems, driving innovation across grid interconnection, on-site generation, and advanced energy storage technologies. This is a rare opportunity to shape the foundational electrical systems for one of the most advanced AI infrastructure programs in the world. Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Architecture
Architect and own the global power delivery roadmap, from HV/MV/LV systems through redundancy, monitoring, and optimization.
Define and enforce internal power design standards, templates, and scalable patterns across regions and facility types.
Provide executive-level technical direction on all power-related decisions, guiding design teams, EPCs, and OEMs.
Develop power system strategies aligned with long-term capacity, performance, and energy efficiency goals.
Grid & Generation Strategy
Lead engagements with RTOs, ISOs, and utilities to secure interconnection capacity and optimize grid participation.
Evaluate and deploy on-site generation (gas turbines, fuel cells, solar + BESS) to enhance energy resilience and sustainability.
Integrate renewable and hybrid generation solutions to meet both operational reliability and carbon-reduction objectives.
Systems Design & Operations
Oversee system design for switchgear, UPS, PDUs, and substation configurations supporting high-density AI compute.
Direct capacity planning, load balancing, fault-tolerance strategies, and redundancy topologies (N+1, 2N, 3N).
Implement advanced SCADA, EPMS, and real-time analytics for predictive maintenance, uptime assurance, and optimization.
Collaborate with mechanical, controls, and IT infrastructure teams to align power delivery with GPU-accelerated workloads and liquid-cooled systems.
Innovation & Governance
Evaluate and pilot next-gen technologies such as DC distribution, solid-state transformers, and intelligent switchgear.
Establish power safety, commissioning, and operational standards to ensure lifecycle excellence and compliance with NEC, IEEE, and IEC frameworks.
Champion continuous improvement through post-commissioning analysis, root cause review, and system optimization initiatives.
Qualifications
BSEE or equivalent required;PE license strongly preferred.
12+ years of progressive experience in data center, energy, or mission-critical infrastructure environments.
Deep expertise in high-availability power systems (2N/3N), arc flash mitigation, and fault tree analysis.
Strong command of power system compliance frameworks and design codes.
Experience with GPU/AI infrastructure and hyperscale data centers highly preferred.
Excellent communicator with the ability to lead cross-functional collaboration across executive, technical, and field teams.
Bonus: Prior experience in scaling on-site generation and hybrid grid strategies for emerging AI workloads.
Why Join This is a mission-critical leadership role at the forefront of the AI infrastructure revolution-where electrical engineering meets high-performance computing. You'll define the electrical backbone that powers next-generation AI facilities, shaping how compute and energy converge at scale.
